Welcome to The Florida Scrub-Jay Trail!
We will make every effort to beat the heat at the Saturday, August 22, Trailday from 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., by staying in shady areas near the entrance and trailhouse. There will still be plenty of trail maintenance happening, so bring loppers, hand pruners, and gloves if you have them. If not, we have limited availability of equipment to loan for the event. Everyone should wear closed-toed shoes and long pants.
Bring your water bottle - we will supply plenty of cold water and beverages.

As part of our ongoing involvement in citizen science projects, we
will be participating in the 2026 Great Southeast Pollinator Census
during Trailday on Saturday, August 22.
Participants will be asked to pick a plant to observe for 15 minutes and record the number and type of insects that land on that plant. The insect categories are bumble bees, honey bees, small bees, carpenter bees, wasps, flies, butterflies/moths, and "other insects."
Don't worry - there is a quick and easy guide that will help you recognize and categorize your sightings (watch for the "shiny hiney" on a carpenter bee to distinguish it from the bumble bee!). Instructions and count sheets will be supplied, and we will upload everyone's counts.
Find out more at GSePC.org or view this YouTube video for identification tips.
