Florida Scrub-Jay Trail News
News Archives Back to News Trailday March 22, 2025
Recent Traildays have been spent clearing brush and trimming and pruning but the first Saturday in spring - March 22 - means it's time to start planting. We'll be focusing on a new section of the Scrub-Jay Trail and putting in Scrub Oaks (see details on Scrub Oaks and their habitat below) and ground covers.  We'll take advantage of the cool, clear weather from 8:30 - 11:00 a.m. and add Scrub-Jay-approved plantings to their native habitat.

Wear closed-toed shoes and long pants. Bring your water bottle - we will supply plenty of cold water for refills. Other things to bring are gloves, hat, sunscreen, pruning shears, and a shovel for planting. We have a limited supply of tools to share so don't worry if you don't have your own.
