2020 – A Year to Remember
Looking back over the past year, it amazes me how a small group of people can accomplish so much!

This year we enjoyed so many families, with all ages of children, exploring the Florida Scrub-Jay Trails. It was a great year for being outside with nature!

Our Florida Scrub-Jays are not always visible but our visitors are still enjoying them along with the other 120 + species found on the trails.  We look forward to a productive 2021 with your help in maintaining a healthy habitat as you have for the past 20 years.
  • New lakefront restoration began with Cherrylake Partnership and Outside 2020 Collaborative www.outsidecollab.com when we planted 200 Bald Cypress Trees donated by Cherrylake.
  • Fishing and Boating Summer Camps expanded to include advanced camps.
  • Birders, hikers, photographers, musicians, and artists enjoyed the great outdoors…a simple time.
  • Dock Expansion:  So much support has put the dock expansion for the kids fishing camp closer to reality.
Thank you for your huge hearts! And speaking of hearts…

Peny Farmakis, a dear friend and supporter of The Florida Scrub-Jay Trail, has been on a waiting list for a heart transplant and she just got that gift on Thursday, January 7!

Whatever you can do to help her would be greatly appreciated.
 Here is her story…
Even a small donation could help Kristi Whitley reach their fundraising goal. And if you can't make a donation, it would be great if you could share the fundraiser to help spread the word. Thanks for taking a look!
Thank you for all of your support!

Wishing you and your family a healthy and happy 2021!

Enjoy a guided tour of B.B. Brown's Gardens at The Florida Scrub-Jay Trail in search of butterflies and other hidden gems. Butterfly expert Dr. Marc Minno is back to guide a limited number of people on a 2-hour nature hike to increase our awareness of the natural world around us. By sharpening our powers of observation and interpretation, we will see nature in a new light by observing the things that are “hidden in plain sight.”

Butterfly surveys will allow us to track monarchs and other butterflies. We’ll learn what plants we should put in our gardens to attract pollinators and birds. Gopher Tortoises, wild edible plants, insects, both friend and foe, and native plants will all be carefully studied in the natural habitat of The Florida Scrub-Jay Trail in Clermont, FL.

Pack a brown bag lunch, binoculars, water bottle, and wear sensible shoes suitable for walking through the wilderness. Over lunch, you will have the opportunity to discuss your discoveries with Dr. Minno.

Bring your refillable water bottle as we will have plenty of water.
The fascinating BioBlitz series is open to students, adults and nature lovers of all ages but, due to current restrictions, will be strictly limited to 10 people.

You must register in advance for this month's BioBlitz
to confirm that space is available.
