Maybe MAY is the month to get back to The Florida Scrub-Jay Trail. Restrictions have eased - though we continue to have recommended safe practices in place - and we've missed you!

We'll start with sunrise yoga and Trailday on Saturday, May 23; there are THREE Fishing and Boating Skills Camps in June; our next BioBlitz Nature Walk is Saturday, June 13.

MAYbe you can't make any of those scheduled events? The Florida Scrub-Jay Trail is open to the public Saturday through Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. - come see us!

YOGA and TRAILDAY  -  SATURDAY, May 23

In recognition of and with regard for the current restrictions on social gatherings, we are happy to have the space available to safely continue our monthly yoga and trailday opportunities.

Summer Fishing and Boating Skills Camps

New in 2020 Advanced Fishing and Boating Skills Camp
June 15-19

Presented by The Florida Scrub-Jay Consortium, and always in small, private groups.

The 5-day camps are being offered to kids ages 9-15 and will be presented each day, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm., at The Florida Scrub-Jay Trail, 11490 Montevista Road, Clermont, Florida.

Topics to be covered include how to fish, fish biology, catch and release techniques, fish habitats, boating safety and navigation, oaring and trolling motor operation, rod and reel assembly, types of tackle, knot tying, casting, bait, cast nets, fish cleaning, and a whole lot more.

There will be a fishing tournament complete with prizes and games, including rowing competitions and casting contests. On the final day, campers will treat their families to a fish fry.

Campers will receive their own rod and reel and tackle box complete with all of the tackle they need during the camp, and to take home. Once trained, campers fish from their own boats, by themselves.

Tuition $225 for the week or $215 if by cash or check; Advanced Camp is $300 for the week or $290 if by cash or check.

We have a few registrations available and look forward to those participating in camp.
For those who need assistance with camp tuition, please feel free to contact us as no child will be left behind for summer camp!
