At this May BioBlitz you can enjoy a special presentation
by Douglas Fernandez of Camaguey, Cuba.
Cuba is one of the worlds hot spots for biodiversity. A significant percentage of the plants and animals are unique to Cuba. This beautiful island has unspoiled beaches, tropical forests, savannas, and high mountains. There are 14 national parks in Cuba and many protected areas for viewing wildlife.
Douglas Fernandez is one of the top natural scientists in Cuba. He has an excellent knowledge of the Cuban flora and fauna and has traveled extensively throughout the island to conduct research. Douglas has published a number of articles on Cuban butterflies and contributed a chapter on their biology to the book, Lepidópteros de Cuba. He is currently working on field guides to Cuban butterflies and wildflowers.

Following the presentation, Douglas will be joined by Dr. Marc Minno and guests on a tour of the flora and fauna of the Florida Scrub-Jay Trail.
