FISHING AND BASIC BOATING SKILLS CAMP
AT THE FLORIDA SCRUB-JAY TRAIL
MAY 29-JUNE 2, JUNE 5-9 and JUNE 12-16, 2017
Three 5 day camps will be offered to kids, 9 to 15, and will be presented each day,
Monday through Friday, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
Dates are May 29-June 2, June 5-9 and June 12-16, 2017
Presented by The Florida Scrub-Jay Consortium 11490 Monte Vista Rd. Clermont, Florida in partnership with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
Topics to be covered include how to fish, fish biology, catch and release techniques, fish habitats, boating safety and navigation, oaring and trolling motor operation, rod and reel assembly, types of tackle, types of knots, casting, bait, cast nets, fish cleaning and a whole lot more.
There will be a fishing tournament complete with prizes and games including rowing competitions, casting contests. On the final day, campers will treat their families to a fish fry. Campers will receive their own rod and reel and tackle box complete with all of the tackle they need during the camp, and to take home. Once trained, campers fish from their own boats, by themselves.
Tuition for the camp is $225 for the week
($215 if paid by cash or check)
Class size will be limited to assure personalized instruction.
Acceptance will be on a first come – first served basis.
