JANUARY - JUNE 2016
Bi-o-blitz (bi'-o-blitz) n .
1. A gathering of people interested studying the
natural world, led by a knowledgeable mentor.
2. An in-depth study of birds,
butterflies, plants, moths, insects and reptiles presented in 6-4 hour classes
throughout the year, led by noted biologist and author Dr. Marc Minno.
Dr. Minno's Bioblitz continues at B.B. Brown's Gardens at The Florida Scrub-Jay Trail throughout the coming year. Dr. Minno draws on 24 years experience as an interdisciplinary scientist, ecologist, and author of six books and 90 scientific articles.
Beginning with an ongoing butterfly survey followed by a specific topic, each four hour field course will wind through upland and wetland trails with a lunch break at the half way point. Each ensuing course will continue the Butterfly survey, since each month will produce additional butterfly species, followed by a new biological topic. Some of these topics include: Reptiles, dragonflies, wildflowers, Monarchs, and amphibians.
The first field course will be held on January 23 from 10:00am to 2:00pm.
The remaining field courses take place from 10:00am to 2:00pm on the following dates:
February 20
March 5
April 16
May 14
June 11
Cost of the individual programs is $10.00 or $50.00 for the entire series.
Class sizes will be kept to a minimum, so early registration is suggested.
Deadline for the entire series is January 18.
