Plants Heal and Nourish Us Back to Health

Plants are the earth's chemists, ingeniously combining different chemicals and creating thousands of unique compounds. As plants grow, attract beneficial insects, and protect themselves from pathogens and pests, they use chemistry to defend, survive and communicate with the beneficial bacteria, fungi, insects, and the plants surrounding them.
Plants long ago learned how to protect and heal themselves, and plant chemistry works for people, too! Plants can heal and nourish us back to health.
Angela Minno grew up studying native plants in Florida. She later became interested in learning about herbs. She has studied herbal medicine for nearly twenty years. She often uses herbs for her family, cows, and goats. She has three children and also enjoys interacting with plants through pasture management, gardening, and seed-saving.

Birding with John Thomton
10:00 AM-Noon

Registration required for John's Workshop:
Call  (352)-429-5566  or email  info@bbbrowns.com

Being a life-long birder, John captivates all who have the good fortune of being on one of his tours. John has been an avid birder since his High School days in Chicago and now maintains the bird list at the Florida Scrub-Jay Trail, identifying over 125 species to date. This diverse habitat ranges from upland sandhill/scrub to lakefront and marsh communities, offering the opportunity to identify birds from the Florida scrub-jays to snowy egrets.
Whether you are an expert birder or a weekend bird watcher, John will provide you with incredible insight into the fascinating world of the wild birds of Lake County.
John Thomton has been an avid birder since his high school days in Chicago. Relocating to Florida 10 years ago, he has enjoyed the state's diverse and abundant birdlife. He has a particular fondness for corvids, and thus began volunteering at The Florida Scrub-Jay Trail in 2007.
John assists in the restoration of the scrub habitat along the Trail and also maintains the bird list of 125 species recorded on the property to date. In addition to all the time John spends monitoring the species birds at the Trail he also founded and organizes the Clermont Christmas Bird Count, an annual event hosted at the Trail.
