Melinda Joy Miller, a feng shui master, cultural anthropologist, medicine woman and Keeper of the Medicine Wheel of Peace from the teachings of the ancient Seneca People, will discuss her book "Shamanic Gardening" followed by a book signing. The event will take place on Saturday, March 9, from 9:00-10:00am at B.B.Brown's Gardens, 11490 Monte Vista Road, in Clermont.
Shamanic Gardening includes a cultural history of sustainable gardening, including gardening techniques used by Cleopatra, the Pueblo Indians, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, and many others. Shamanic Gardening is a powerful system that incorporates sustainability with ancient teachings of indigenous cultures, Chinese and Japanese design concepts, energetic balance methods and psychological principles. Shamanic Gardening explores the creation of a garden that heals self, as well as the earth.
Working in harmony with the natural elements, including the wind, these gardens expand your intuition and offer a shamanically protective quality. The gardens are rich in high-nutrition foods that are medicinal for all aspects of your life…even spicing up your love life with ancient aphrodisiacs used in various cultures throughout history.
Melinda Joy Miller created this system as a natural evolution to her diverse background which includes her experience as a cultural anthropologist, medicine woman, sensorimotor--integrative therapist, metaphysical healer, and nationally known feng shui master, with over thirty years experience in permaculture, sustainability, and herbology. She founded the Shambhalla Institute in 1991. Her book, Shamanic Gardening: Timeless Techniques for the Modern Sustainable Gardener, is published by Process Media.
