NWF_logo

Applications are now being accepted for the Spring National Wildlife Federation Habitat Stewards Training that will take place on March 7, 8 and 9th 2009 at B.B.Brown's Gardens in Clermont.

This extensive 3 day program, hosted by Bruce and Cathy Brown, Certified Trainers with the National Wildlife Federation, will feature in-class training, field studies, workshops and presentations by leading experts in the areas of native plants, bird studies, butterfly habitat, endangered plant species, creating "Green" communities, and restoring wildlife habitat in our backyards, neighborhoods and towns.

For the past 8 years, over 160 Habitat Stewards have been actively involved in Central Florida's beautification and wildlife preservation. Their conservation and restoration efforts include the design, and installation of habitat gardens at Lake Louisa State Park, Centre for Women's Health at South Lake Hospital, Lost Lake Elementary School, Clermont's Veteran's Memorial on Lake Minneola, Lake County Welcome Center, Florida Scrub-Jay Trail, Clermont Post Office, and Building Blocks Learning Center.

Stewards design and create a habitat garden in the community as a part of their certification. Attendance at all 3 days of the program is necessary to be sanctioned by the National Wildlife Federation as a certified Habitat Steward.

The training is free. Cost for training materials and meals, including the opening reception is $95.00. Class size is limited and pre-registration is required by calling  352-429-5566   or email   bbbrowns@earthlink.net
