Daisy or sunflower family.

Flowers from August to October.

A perennial shrub with flower heads purple to pink-purple and thistle-like. Each flower head is composed of many tubular disk flowers. Flower heads are stalked and not one-sided as are the blooms of Liatris pauciflora.
