Mint family.

Blooms in late spring, summer and fall.

A perennial herb that grows from 2 to 4 feet with square stems and opposite triangular leaves. It reseeds annually and bears striking, rich red, tubular flowers that are about an inch long. These showy flowers attract hummingbirds and butterflies.

Native to southeastern U.S. including
the state of Florida.
