News Archives Back to News Trailday April 25, 2020
Looking for some good news? It has been a  wonderful week at the Florida Scrub-Jay Trail! One of our best ever!

Families from previous Fishing and Boating Camps took advantage of what they learned at camp by fishing and boating but also hiked the trails and experienced all the wildlife.

Lakefront Restoration Project - 200 Bald Cypress Trees Planted

On Saturday, April 18, in partnership with Cherrylake, the Outside 2020 Sustainable Landscape Collaborative, and 1000 Trees for 1000 Years, we planted 200 Bald Cypress trees as part of our lakefront restoration project. It was a rainy but very successful day!

These trees should be reaching 20 ft. within the next four years, and we are so excited that many of them will thrive and provide environmental benefits for a 1000 years to come.

YOGA and TRAILDAY
SATURDAY,
 April 25

In recognition of and with regard for the current restrictions on social gatherings, we are happy to have the space available to safely continue our monthly yoga and trailday opportunities.

Start with stress-reducing sunrise yoga at 7:00 a.m. with Dianna. Our yoga classes are always limited to a very private group of 10 participants. Only four openings are still available. Please RSVP to info@scrubjaytrail.org or call 352-429-5566 no later than Friday, April 24, by 12:00 p.m. There is no charge to participate, but you must RSVP.

Our Trailday duties begin at 8:30 a.m. This week we will be planting in our National Wildlife Federation Wildlife Craig Tufts Pollinator garden, preparing for spring. We have had lots of hummingbirds and Monarch butterfly activity. Make your mark on these gardens and help encourage the next generation to continue to add to our habitat.
