Don't distance yourself from nature - join us on Saturday, May 9, 2020, from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm,  as we enjoy a guided tour of B.B. Brown's Gardens at The Florida Scrub-Jay Trail in search of butterflies and other hidden gems. Butterfly expert Dr. Marc Minno is back to guide a limited number of people on a 2-hour nature hike to increase our awareness of the natural world around us. By sharpening our powers of observation and interpretation, we will see nature in a new light by observing the things that are “hidden in plain sight.”

Butterfly surveys will allow us to track monarchs and other butterflies. We’ll learn what plants we should put in our gardens to attract butterflies, and birds. Gopher Tortoises, wild edible plants, insects, both friend and foe, and native plants will all be carefully studied in the natural habitat of The Florida Scrub-Jay Trail in Clermont, FL.
Pack a brown bag lunch, binoculars, water bottle, and wear sensible shoes suitable for walking through the wilderness. Over lunch, you will have the opportunity to discuss your discoveries with Dr. Minno.

Bring your refillable water bottle as we will have plenty of water.

Many people recognize Giving Tuesday as a global day of charitable giving that happens in the fall. It follows Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday as a chance to give back to organizations you love.

#GivingTuesdayNow is a new global day of giving and unity taking place on May 5, 2020 – in addition to the regularly scheduled Dec 1, 2020 #GivingTuesday – as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.
Let’s come together to create a wave of generosity, citizen engagement, action from business and philanthropy, and support for communities and nonprofits around the world.

Please take part in this day of global generosity and support the Florida Scrub-Jay Consortium. No amount is too little and we need your support now, more than ever, during these challenging times.

Please help out the Consortium by
being a member, making a donation, spreading the word of #GivingTuesdayNow, sharing your knowledge of the Florida Scrub-Jay Trail with a friend, or writing a positive online review.

If you have already shown your support in some of these ways – THANK YOU! We are so incredibly grateful for all you do for the Florida Scrub-Jay Consortium.

Due to the recent passage of the CARES Act, whether you itemize or not, you can benefit from the new $300 above-the-line tax deduction for cash contributions to qualifying charities. Learn more about the CARES Act here.
