Insider Tour Of The Florida Scrub-Jay Trail
Cathy and Bruce Brown
Friday & Sunday: October 14 & 16: 8:00am-9:00am and 3:00pm-4:00pm

What started as an orange grove is now home for Florida's only endemic bird species, the treasured Florida Scrub-Jay. During this 20 year transition from grove to preserve, the Trailhead became the home to over 125 species of birds along with wildlife such as gopher tortoises and bobcats to name a few.
Witness the planned and the unplanned evidence of restoring habitat for this threatened species in such a diverse habitat.
The star of the show is the Florida Scrub-Jay, a beautiful and often frisky bird that has lived here for 20 years that we have witnessed. There are no guarantees you will spot one, but birders from around the globe have given it a try, and most have gone home with that special entry on their life list.
