SPRING GARDENING SERIES
PLANTING AND PROPAGATING
HERBS AND SPICES
MARCH 10, 2012 10AM - 2PM
In a follow-up to last season's Growing Herbs and How to Use Them, this Spring,
Lei Lani Davis will guide us in the next steps of planting and propagating nature's very best.
Join Lei Lani Davis during this hands-on workshop, held March 10, 2012 from 10am-2pm at B.B.Brown's Gardens in Clermont.
The workshop is designed for levels of beginner to intermediate experience. Beginning with general information about herbs and what herbs grow best in which temperatures, soil and PH, we will quickly move into learning how and when to sow seeds properly for success.
Try your hand at transplanting bare root and "plug" transplants as well as working with "cuttings"…learn how to decide which method of propagation is best for a particular type of plant, and what time of year is best for propagation. Lei Lani will demonstrate simple layering and the proper way to divide plants.
Originally from Anna Maria Island, Florida Lei Lani now hails from Live Oak, Florida. Having personally grown various flowers, herbs and vegetables in various Florida heat zones for over 35 years, Lei Lani knows the ins and outs of a successful growing season. She has worked in every aspect of growing from a genetic technician for the Ball Seed Company to the University of Florida Research and Education Center and overseeing food safety, pest and plant management for a local hydroponic farm.
